About Us
Leadership
Trinity Memorial has been blessed through the years in having outstanding clerical and lay leadership.
Our past rectors have not only served the spiritual and material needs of the parish, but they have reached out to others, making Trinity one of the most respected churches in the community.
Lay leaders in the church have included prominent community leaders, business men and women, attorneys, university faculty and leaders from other professions.
We have enjoyed the stability of long tenures with several rectors, staff, and laity:
- Wilson Tanner was rector for 25 years
- Paul Thompson was rector for more than 22 years
- Art Doersam was rector for 18 years
- Flora Staps was organist/choir director for 42 years
- Mabel Hissey was parish secretary for more than 30 years
- Bill & Mary Heald were treasurers for more than 30 years
- Edgar W. Couper was a warden for 12 years
- Peter Browne began his ministry as Church Musician in 1981--28 years and counting!
Our interim rector, The Rev. Paul C. Donecker, has brought parish and diocesan experiences with him in this role. He has worked with parish commissions and committees and led us to function in better ways.
Committees and commissions now
- Have a mission statement
- Take minutes at meetings, submit them to Vestry, and post them for all to see
- Begin and end meetings with prayer
- Schedule meetings ahead of time
Paul Donecker has been charged, as interim rector, to help us
- Review our identity
- Review our history
- Review leadership and leadership tasks
- Strengthen relations with the bishop and bishop's staff
- Build commitment to new clergy and new possibilities
