The Rev. Dr. David A. Drebert, Rector
The Rev. Dr. David A. Drebert has been called to be the tenth rector of Trinity Memorial Church , Binghamton.
He assumed duties on June 1, 2011.
Father Dave, a native New Englander, comes to us from the Diocese of Milwaukee. Ordained to the priesthood in 2001, he served churches in Sturgeon Bay, Hartland and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He served as acting dean of the Cathedral of All Saints in Milwaukee from January to September 2010. Most recently, he has been supply priest at St. James’ Church in Milwaukee.
Dave has a BA and an MA degree in Zoology from the University of Vermont and an MBA degree from the University of Southern Maine. His first career was as a laboratory director in Massachusetts, Maine and Wisconsin.
Heeding a call to ordained ministry later in life, Dave first pursued studies in the Wisconsin Diocese of Fond du Lac to become a deacon. He completed a Master of Theological Studies degree at Seabury-Western Seminary and also earned a D Min in Preaching degree there.
Father Dave and Kay live in the rectory with “the best Golden Retriever ever,” Sophie, who also is trained as a service dog.
The Rev. Kay Drebert, Deacon
The Rev. Kay Drebert is an ordained, permanent deacon in the Episcopal Church. A deacon's ministry is one of service. It is non-stipendiary and the deacon works under the direction of the diocesan bishop. Kay will be based at Trinity Memorial and will spend some time discerning how her skills, background and experiences can be best used to meet the needs of our church, community, district and diocese.
A native of Wisconsin, Kay was ordained a deacon in 1998 in the Diocese of Milwaukee. She most recently served at St. Paul's Church in Watertown, Wisconsin where she was responsible for programs in Christian Formation.
Deacon Kay will assist in worship at Trinity Memorial. The deacon's responsibilities include reading the Gospel, leading the Confession, preparing the table and assisting at Eucharist, and giving the Dismissal.
Peter Browne, Church Musician
Peter Browne has been the Church Musician at Trinity Memorial Church, Binghamton since 1981. Prior to coming to Trinity, he served churches in New York, Connecticut and Pennsylvania. He is a 1967 graduate of Bard College, where he served as chapel organist during his student years. He earned a Master's Degree in Organ from Binghamton University in 1980. His teachers have included Searle Wright and Paul Jordan in organ, Jacob Druckman in music theory, and David Buttolph in choral conducting. In 1993, he was awarded a fellowship to study choral conducting with Sir David Willcocks, former director of the Choir of King's College, Cambridge, and the Bach Choir of London. As a faculty member at Binghamton University, he directs the Harpur Chorale, accompanies the University Chorus, and teaches musicianship in the theory program. Mr. Browne has performed as a soloist, director and accompanist throughout the eastern United States, as well as in Canada, England and Wales. He has also appeared frequently as an organ soloist and guest conductor with the Madrigal Choir of Binghamton, and he is a member of the chamber ensemble Early On.
Arlene Ghilardi, Office Manager
Arlene has worked in the church office at Trinity since January 30, 2001. She became office manager in April of 2006. Arlene has been involved with various aspects of church work for over 30 years, including teaching adults and youth, worship leading both here and on the mission field, and doing the office/secretarial work for the church in Endwell that her husband, Bert, pastors. She is on duty from 9 a.m.to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
Joan Lacey, Financial Secretary
Retired from IBM, Joan works part-time as our financial secretary. She is available Mondays and Tuesdays. She is an ex-officio member of the Finance Commission and she attends Vestry meetings also. Joan is a long-time member of the parish. She plays in the Chime Choir.
Jeff Fellows, Building and Grounds Manager
Jeff is our Building and Grounds Manager and liaison with contractors on our construction projects.
