Vestry

The Vestry at Trinity Memorial Church consists of 12 members, elected for a three-year term, and two wardens elected for a two-year term. Elections are held at the annual meeting in January each year. The clerk of Vestry is chosen by the Vestry to be the recorder; he does not have voice or vote at Vestry meetings.

Wardens

Patty Bloomer

PATTY BLOOMER, seniorr warden, has been a member of Trinity Memorial for more than 50 years. She made history in 1978 when she was the first woman at Trinity to be elected warden. She currently serves on the Finance Commission, Investment Committee, and the Canteen Board. Patty assists in worship as a lector and Eucharistic minister. She formerly taught Sunday School and served on the Christian Education Commission. In the diocese, Patty served on the Episcopal Fund for Human Need and Bishop Whittaker’s consecration committee. Patty is currently president of the Binghamton University Athletic Club and president and founder of the E. L. Rose Conservancy of Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania. She serves on the advisory board of the Community Foundation of Susquehanna and Wyoming Counties (Pennsylvania), and is an honorary board member of Aging in America. She is on the advisory board of Silver Lane Advisors, a New York-based mergers and acquisitions investment bank and strategy consulting firm serving the financial services industry. Patty is retired as president of Binghamton Steel Erectors, Inc. She and husband Bill have a son and daughter and one granddaughter.

 

Peter KoeppelPETER KOEPPEL, junior warden, has been a member of the Vestry for four years. Peter describes himself as Christian by Baptism, Protestant by confirmation, and Episcopalian by choice. He has been a member of Trinity Memorial since 2004. Peter sings with Trinity's Mixed Choir and serves on the Technology Team. A native of Germany, Peter earned an MBA and PhD from Union College in Schenectady. He has worked for IBM for the past 20 years and is currently involved with enterprise application program management. Peter and his Drieux live in Vestal; they have two adult sons. Peter enjoys listening to ancient music, walking the neighbohood's hills and the Finger Lakes' gorges. and photographing the varied landscapes around us.

Vestry Members

Jim Albert

JIM ALBERT has been an active member of Trinity for the past eight years. He has completed one term on Vestry. He serves as the Church Treaurer and the Parish Archivist. He is also a member of the Finance Commission, the Building & Grounds Commission , the Investment Committee and the Nominating Commission. Jim coordinates the offering counters, co-chairs the Library Committeem and serves as an usher. an excellent cook, Jim can often be found in the Trinity kitchen making sandwiches, preparing pancakes, or helping with Canteen. Jim is retired form the US Postal Service.

 

Barbara Chaffee

BARBARA CHAFFEE has been a member of Trinity Memorial since 1985. Barbara sings in the Mixed Choir, serves on the Mission and Ministry Commission, volunteers with Canteen, and assists in worship as a lector, Eucharistic minister, and occasional preacher. She has been a delegate to Diocesan Convention and has served on the Standing Committee of the Diocese of Central New York and on the diocesan Commission on Ministry. Barbara, a physician trained in internal medicine and public health, practiced in Binghamton until retiring in 2010. She cared for many people with HIV/AIDS as part of her practice, and also was active in teaching both medical students and residents about HIV, addiction, and public health. Barbara and her husband John have three sons and twin grandsons.

 

Debra GoldsteinDEBRA GOLDSTEIN was baptized and attended an Episcopal church growing up. She was invited to attend a service at Trinity in the summer of 2003 and she immediately felt at home the minute she walked in the door. Debra was confirmed the following spring. An 8 o'clock worshiper, Debra ushers once a month and serves as a member of the Altar Guild. Debra has been a faithful volunteer in our Garth. She has worked for Security Mutual Life Insurance Company for the past 16 years in the inividual Client Service Department. She lives in Endwell with her adult son.

 

 

Chris Hanes

CHRISTOPHER HANES, a cradle Episcopalian, was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated from Yale University and earned his PhD in economics from Harvard. Chris and his wife, Susan Wolcott Hanes, joined the faculty in Economics at Binghamton University in 1993. The Hanes’ family lives in Vestal; they have been attending Trinity for about five years. Sons Peter and Thomas are acolytes and young voice lectors; both have sung with Trebles. Chris serves on the board of the Tri-Cities Opera.

 

Tom Harding

TOM HARDING, a native of the south side of Binghamton, is a firefighter with the City of Binghamton. Tom is a member of the Nominating Commission and previously served as its chair. He currently serves also on the Building and Groundns Commission and he was a member of the Discernment and Search Team. Tom is an offering counter and an usher; he frequently ushers with his wife, Susanne, and their daughter, Emily. Tom can be found all over the church, helping with whatever needs doing.


Marcy KeelerMARCY KEELER has been a member of Trinity Memorial for 15 years. A former church organist, she also worked at Binghamton University as assistant to the dean in the School of Education. Now retired, Marcy spends much time in volunteering at Trinity. She is the editor of the Trinity Times, the parish webmistress, and the volunteer preparer of the church bulletins and Sunday Times. Marcy served as chair of the Discernment & Search Team and co-chair with husband John of the Capital Campaign. She sings in the Mixed Choir and serves on the Worship and Music Commission.

 

Rob Lacey

ROBERT R. LACEY, III, known to all as Rob, is a lifelong Trinity member. Rob has served Trinity in many roles: Choir member, Chair of Christian Education, Worship and Music, Stewardship, Mission and Ministry, and Computer Commissions. He has taught Sunday School and been a delegate to Diocesan Convention. He currently serves on the Nominating Commission, the HAVEN Board and the Technology Team. Rob is a software engineer for Lockheed Martin. He is a docent for the Heritage Museum, Center for Technology and Innovation. Rob and his wife Joan have two adult daughters.

 

Sandra Michael

SANDRA MICHAEL is a SUNY Distinguished Service Professor in Biological Sciences at Binghamton University. Her research interests include genetics, endocrinology and immunology of female reproduction. Sandy serves as NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative. An avid Bearcats fan, Sandy tries to attend every basketball game and at least one competition of the other 19 sports. A member of Trinity since 1996, Sandy has served two prior terms on the Vestry. She is currently on the Finance Commission and serves as a lector. She is co-chair of the Freije Library committee. Sandy serves on the Binghamton District and the Diocese of Central New York Discernment Committees. She has been a delegate from Trinity to our Diocesan Convention for several years. She was a deputy to General Convention in 2003, 2006, and 2009, and is first alternate lay deputy to the 2012 General Convention. At the 2006 General Convention, she was elected to a six-year term on the General Board of Examining Chaplains, the body that writes and grades the General Ordination Exams for priest candidates. Sandy served on the National Church's Science, Technology & Faith Committee with simultaneous service as Convener of the STF Network, a membership organization. She was also a delegate to the Ecumenical Roundtable for Science and Faith. She has been a frequent participant in Evolution Weekend, a world-wide endeavor designed to demonstrate that religion and science can be compatible and to elevate the quality of the debate of this issue.

 

Brian PalmerBRIAN PALMER retired and moved to Binghamton in 2009 and joined Trinity Church. No stranger to our parish, he had worshipped with us for many years whenever he visited his brother, Bill. Brian spent some time as a Trappist monk; he served in the Army in Viet Nam. He pursued graduate studies in Church History and Patristics and received his M.Phil from Columbia University. He lectured at General Theological Seminary on The History of Early Christian Spirituality. Brian was an administrator at Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn for 25 years and was variously responsible for Patient Relations, Community Relations, Press and Public Affairs, Marketing, and Pastoral Care. At Trinity Church Brian is a lector and he coordinates the lector schedule. He chairs the Worship & Music Commission and serves on a district-wide team to help those who feel a call to ordained ministry discern their vocations. Brian volunteers at Lourdes Hospital, lectures at Lyceum, and he can often be found in the Binghamton University library doing research on early and medieval monasticism and on Anglican liturgy.

 

John Shea

JOHN SHEA, a native of Choconut, PA, is married to Jean Turner Shea, a lifelong member of Trinity. John and Jean, and sons Stephen and Jack, returned to Binghamton in 2002 and the whole family is very involved in the life of our church. John is a member and past chair of the Investment Committee. He is on the Canteen Board and can be often found in the kitchen and dining room on Sunday mornings. John has served as Trinity’s representative on the Good Shepherd-Fairview board and he is currently on the board of directors of the Boys and Girls Club of Binghamton. John received a BS in Accounting from the University of Scranton and an MBA from Boston University. He is Vice President and Senior Investment Analytics Consultant with Bank of New York Mellon and is a Marketing Consultant with Ambit Energy. John is currently sitting for the 2nd Level of the CIPM (Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement) exam program, the investment industry’s only designation dedicated solely to the specialized field of investment performance analysis.

 

Lari Jo VickreyLARI JO VICKREY and her son Louis first came to Trinity about 15 years ago and Louis was baptized here. The Tuesday Group warmly welcomed Lari Jo and taught her to knot. She has been an active member of the Tuesday Group since that first meeting. Lari Jo was also invited to join the Altar Guild and participate in the care of altar vessels and linens and she finds that to be a special ministry. Lari Jo and Louis attend worshipat 8 o'clock. Lari Jo previously served a one-year term on Vestry.

 

Jody Zakrevsky

JODY ZAKREVSKY, and his wife Alice, joined Trinity threeyears ago. A long-time Episcopalian, Jody has served on vestries in former churches in Harriman, NY and Norwich, NY. Jody has been a supporter of the HAVEN After School Program and he can be found helping at the Canteen and various hospitality functions at church with Alice, who is Hospitality Chair at Trinity. A native of this area, Jody graduated from Chenango Valley High School. He earned degrees from Wilkes University, and a master's degree in City and Regional Planning from the Pratt Institute School of Architecture. He has spent most of his professional life in government, working for the Mayor's Office of Management and Budget in New York City; as Director of Community Development in Norwich, NY; and Director of Economic Development in Schoharie County, NY. Jody is currently the Executive Director of the Amsterdam Industrial Development Agency. He also has his own consulting firm, The Wales Group, which provides help to small businesses and nonprofit groups. Jody and Aliuce live in Chenango Bridge. They have four adult children.

Gary MuehlbauerGARY MUEHLBAUER and his wife Jan joined Trinity in 2010 and have jumped in as active volunteers. Gary and Jan were co-chairs of our Photo Directory project. They serve as ushers and volunteer with Canteen. Gary, a native of Tucson, Arizona, is a territory sales manager for Gardner, Inc. in the outdoor power equipment industry. He enjoys cooking, woodworking, golfing and he has a lifelong love of antique automobiles.
