Capital Campaign Status Report
January 18, 2010
Fifteen months ago it was announced at the Capital Campaign Celebration dinner that we had met our goal. As of December 31, 2008, Trinity had received pledges and gifts totaling $725,480, exceeding the goal of $725,000. Since then we have received a total of $467,914 in paid pledges. Thus, we have 64% of pledge payments in hand with slightly more than 1/3 of the pledge payment period having expired (three years was the suggested payment duration.) Financial Secretary Joan Lacey has said that there are no accounts in arrears that require any special follow-up at this time.
This is a remarkable showing of support from Trinity Capital Campaign pledgers, especially in this time of economic recession.
The object of the campaign, of course, was to address our leaking Church roof. After almost nine months of intensive work in hot, rainy or frigid weather conditions, the workers of our contractor, W. L. Kline, have presented us with a beautiful new roof.
We recommend that you read the more extensive report submitted by Jeff Fellows in the Annual Report for 2009 or review the Construction news on our web site.
The highlights are:
- Pointing of stone work was done in the areas that were the neediest – primarily, the steeple. Additional pointing will be done on a time and materials basis in the spring of 2010.
- Revere copper was use for the new Yankee gutters and flashing. Fabrication of the gutters was done by hand.
- Asbestos abatement was carried out throughout the project.
- Plywood sheets were installed for a level and secure base for the new shingles
- The shingles installed are a composite slate appearing material made from recycled synthetic rubber. Two rows of copper snow guards were installed on all sides of the building.
- Drainage issues are also being addressed as this is written. The system on the east side of the building was redesigned to handle water coming from new, larger downspouts.
Sincere thanks go to all who have supported the campaign. We can be proud of this accomplishment, especially as we prepare to greet the tenth Rector later this year.
