What's New? Quite a lot!

Building & Grounds CommitteeThere are a lot of new things happening and appearing at Trinity Memorial. Organ repair work is underway. And that has meant that the chancel is not useable. Organ parts are everywhere. The freestanding altar has been placed on the platform; the electronic keyboard provides "organ" and "harpsichord" music; the choirs sit in the first pews. A number of parishioners have commented positively on having the altar and priest closer to the congregation.

The long-anticipated lighting imprvements and electrical upgrades are underway. The electricians have been working behind the scenes on circuit boards and wiring. And the first new lighting fixture has been hung in the nave. Members of the Building and Grounds Committee met on Marchh 9 to view the new light. (Pictured are Frank Donohue, Jim Albert, Paul Donecker and Jeff Fellows.)

Have you noticed the Stations of the Cross on the nave walls? The Stations are read on Thursdays in Lent at 12 noon and 6 p.m.

It is hoped that the organ repairs will be completed by Palm Sunday. It will take several weeks to fabricate the additional light fixtures. The light project will be completed in late spring.

The Frances Jennings Build Fund Dinner

The first Frances Jennings Building Fund Dinner was held in the Trinity gym on Sunday, February 21. Over 80 people attended and enjoyed the delicious meal prepared by Trinity's chefs extraordinaire. Brian Palmer gave the invocation in Latin and English. (Miss Jennings, a Latin teacher, would have been pleased.) Paul Stapel, a longtime friend, shared some photos and special reminiscences. Featured entertainment was "The Rhythm Method," an a cappella singing group from Binhamton University. The Rev. Paul Donecker gave the benediction. Jim Albert was chairman of the event. Many thanks to all who helped make the event possible.

Acolyte Festival at Washington National Cathedral

Acolytes Eight of our acolytes attended the Acolyte Festival at Washington National Cathedral on October 10. It was an "awesome" experience for all of them. Trinity lent our jubilation streamers to a workshop on streamers, and gave more acolytes an opportunity to try them in the magnificant heights of the cathedral.

History Remembered

Two very successful “History Remembered” events were held on Sunday, July 19 and Tuesday, July 21. Comments have been compiled and are available on our web site at History Remembered.

New stove

Blessing of stoveWe have a new Southbend six-burner stove and oven and a Southbend convection oven. The stove and oven have an electronic ignition. We will have to manually light the pilots every time we need to use them. There are instructions available, so please familiarize yourself with the operating instructions if you will be using the stove. We hope to realize a savings in our gas consumption by not having 14 pilot lights burning 24/7, 365 days a year.

An additional, required change is a new hood with a fire suppression system. There is a new exhaust fan and three lights in the hood which make cooking at the stove much more comfortable. These new appliances should serve our church and its ministries for years to come. Thanks to Bill Palmer, Jim Albert, Jean Shea, and Frank and Louise Donohue for their efforts in this selection.
