Organ Pipes Cleaned

Time takes its toll on all of us and what surrounds us, and musical instruments, not even our magnificent organ are exempted. As part of our Chancel and Organ Project, one of the less obvious tasks involved cleaning our organ’s pipes – all of them!  All pipes were removed from the organ, washed carefully, dried, and then reassembled into voices, before installation back in the organ itself. Air ducts and boxes, powering our organ’s voice, were also removed and cleaned, and the ceiling above the organ was resealed. The pipe cleaning project took the better part of a week. Helen Smith managed the pipe cleaning effort, with members of our choir volunteering their time to do the hands-on work; Tim Smith helped out with specific questions.
