Trinity Stafford Scholarship Recipients
Trinity Memorial’s Stafford Scholarship Committee received three applications for scholarship awards; the scholarships are funded entirely by income from the original Stafford Scholarship fund, an amount which will vary from year to year. The Committee recommended to the Vestry, and the Vestry approved, that this year each applicant receive $1,691. This year’s scholarship recipients are:
George Stewart-Walkling. George is an 18-year member of Trinity who has been a long time lector. In high school he was active in theatrical productions and creative writing. Community service included various fundraising events for the Homeschool Group and diverse activities with the Upstate NY Unitarian Universalist Youth Group. He has been accepted at and plans to attend Oberlin, double majoring in English and Creative Writing. His ultimate career goal is to be an author and professor, or perhaps a tabletop game designer.
Emily Harding. Emily will be a sophomore at George Washington University with a major in International Affairs and minor in Sociology. To date she has a 3.7 GPA. Her extracurricular activities include the University Honors Program and College Democrats. Her career goals are either law school or graduate school for international affairs. She expects to graduate in 2021.
Stephen Shea. Stephen will be a junior at Ithaca College working toward a BFA in Writing for Film, Television and Emerging Media. He expects to graduate in 2020. His primary extracurricular activity is with Ithaca College TV. His ultimate career goal is to be a writer for screen/television and television showrunner.
We wish our scholarship recipients, indeed all of our students, success in their studies!
