If It Were Easy, We Wouldn't Call if Stewardship
kwpk It's a complicated world in which we live - it came with some general directions, but no detailed user guide. We were given dominion over the world and all that lives on it, but not all that many more details what that means - in particular, the part of dominion coming with responsibility for the consequences of how we exercise our dominion is not spelled out in any detail whatsoever. And therein lies a challenge.
Everything we do has consequences - yet so much of what we do each day, we do as a matter of routine - getting up, making breakfast, feeding family and pets; leaving the house for daily activities... How many of us give any thought to how or why we do certain things the way we do them, and what possible alternative ways there might be to approach even mundane daily tasks, and what the impact of doing so might be?
Whether we consciously realize it or not, what we do, how we do it, even the most mundane daily activities, offer opportunities for stewardship: how to respond in prayer and in action to the many questions and challenges our lives in God's kingdom, this physical world of His creation, and the social and economic world of our own creation pose for us. Let's continue this conversation in months to come.
