Timothy Edward Smith

Our Music Director

Tim joined our staff in October 2015 following the death of Peter Browne, beloved Organist and Choirmaster for 37 years. Over the next eight years, The Trinity Choir traveled to Washington, Cleveland and Toronto.

The Casavant organ was expanded and equipped with a new movable console. The Trinity Ringers

enjoyed the generous gift of Whitechapel handbells.

The church presented an array of musical offerings beyond Sunday morning, including CandleChant (our version of Compline), Choral Evensong, First Friday programs, choral concerts with orchestra, and of course organ recitals.

In June 2023 Tim took an early retirement and was succeeded ably by Randall Frye. When Randy

accepted a new position in July 2025, Tim was invited to resume his ministry at Trinity.

A native of Cape Cod, he earned music degrees from Wheaton College, Northwestern University and The

Boston Conservatory. Tim is a Founder and the Executive Director of the Portageville Chapel. Located in Western New York State's Genesee Valley, near Letchworth State Park, The Chapel is an extraordinary historic property, where organists can retreat for a week of uninterrupted practice in a private rehearsal facility to restore their artistry and explore the splendor of the Genesee Valley.
